November 2025
IMPACT in New Orleans!
Rena Ferrara (right) with Rutgers collaborator Dr. Erum Nadeem (left). Rena presented her poster on outcomes from the open trial of SilverCloud, a CBT smartphone app, at the 2025 Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies Annual Convention. Participants with worse symptoms had higher digital CBT engagement and greater symptom reduction.

IMPACT in Los Angeles!
Jimin Kim presented her poster on associations between social media use, online belongingness, and suicidal thoughts at the 2025 Annual Society for Research in Psychopathology Conference. Findings showed that among suicidal adolescents, higher online belongingness predicted lower suicidal ideation intensity.

IMPACT in New York City!
Jimin Kim (left), Corinne Cheong (middle), and Rena Ferrara (right) presented their poster on associations between adolescent emotion regulation and discrepancies in caregiver-adolescent relationship quality at the 2025 NYU Langone Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Annual Poster Conference. Findings showed that adolescents who struggled with emotional clarity were less aligned with their caregiver on perceived relationship quality.

IMPACT goes virtual!
Anna Van Meter, Jimin Kim, Chunlin An, and Rena Ferrara presented their poster on the reliability of adolescent reports of their suicidal ideation at the virtual 2025 Suicide Research Symposium. Findings indicated that more frequent measurement of suicidal ideation intensity may be a more accurate representation of adolescent suicidal ideation, but are not sustainable over time.

IMPACT goes to Phoenix!
Rena Ferrara presented her poster on preliminary adolescent feedback on a CBT smartphone app at the 2024 Technology in Psychiatry Summit. In general, youth from minoritized backgrounds found the app to be useful, indicating they received effective support for their symptoms of anxiety and/or depression.

Rena Ferrara (left) and Svea Pasad (right) presented on the association between discrepancies in caregiver-adolescent reports of manic symptoms and perception of the family relationship at the NYU Langone Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Annual Poster Conference. Caregivers who rated their child's manic symptoms as higher may overestimate the quality of the relationship with their child.

IMPACT goes to Columbus!
Rena Ferrara presented on the association between discrepancies in caregiver-adolescent reports of depressive symptoms and perception of the family relationship at the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology Future Directions Forum. Caregivers who rate their relationship more positively may underestimate their child's depression.

Lab Director, Anna Van Meter, joined the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP) Board. She was elected as the Secretary of the Board and is excited to work with the group to promote evidence-based mental healthcare for children and adolescents.
